With father Michael's seven Formula One trophies on the mantlepiece at home, Mick Schumacher has a lot to live up to.
But the aspiring racing driver took a step in the right direction this weekend, when he made his Formula 3 debut.
It was day any father would be proud of, but Michael was unable to watch his son at Silverstone, as he continues to recover in Switzerland from a horror skiing accident that put him in a coma in 2013.
Formula 3 is considered a "feeder formula", where younger drivers learn the ropes, before making the step up to the glamour of Formula One.
Mick, who finished sixth, eighth and 18th in the three races this weekend, is older than some F1 drivers, such as Max Verstappen, who won the Spanish Grand Prix, aged 18 in 2016.
He said: "They took the step to go early into F1, but I'm not ready for it yet."
The teenager is relaxed about the fact he has not yet won a title, saying: "It hasn't worked out yet.
"Probably I am not consistent enough, but my goal in the next few years is to win, of course."
Before making his debut, Mick said of his career: "There is no plan.
"For now, I'm doing my thing. I still have to prove myself as a driver and improve a bit further."
He added that he has been flattered by interest from Ferrari and Mercedes, saying: "It means that I'm doing something right already.
"I always try to give my best, I want to compete with the best and they are all in Formula One."
Michael Schumacher, 47, sustained severe head injuries in a skiing accident in France on December 29, 2013 and has been cared for at his home in Switzerland since September 2014.
Schumacher's accident happened on a family vacation, as he was skiing with his son at the Meribel ski resort in the French Alps.
The avid skier hit the right side of his head on a rock, cracking his helmet. Doctors operated to remove blood clots from his brain, but some were left, because they were too deeply embedded.
Schumacher's condition stabilised, after he was placed in a drug-induced coma, from which he later emerged.
