The all-new Jaguar F-Pace headed for next month’s Frankfurt motor show will incorporate chassis technology developed for the F-Type sports car as the British brand targets “unmatched driver engagement and reward” from its first-ever SUV.
A new video and a series of images released today highlight the dynamic prowess of the forthcoming F-Pace, whichJaguar has confirmed will combine the F-Type’s torque vectoring system and torque-on-demand all-wheel-drive.
Jaguar says the F-Pace’s electric power-assisted steering likewise “incorporates all of the learning from F-Type”, claiming the crossover model “responds immediately to the slightest input, giving a truly connected feel”.
The F-Pace will also inherit its double wishbone front suspension and integral link rear suspension from the new Jaguar XE sedan, while those snarly engine and exhaust notes in the video are almost certainly the product of Jaguar’s supercharged 3.0-litre V6.
Jaguar chief engineer of vehicle integrity Mike Cross says the F-Pace has been evaluated on the same demanding roads as all other Jaguar vehicles to ensure it lives up to the brand’s reputation.
“We haven’t made any compromises or exceptions: the new F-Pace had to be a true Jaguar and had to deliver the dynamics DNA,” Cross said.
“We’ve tested ride and handling to the limit in all environments and in all conditions, and the result is that the new F-Pace is as engaging and rewarding to drive as it is comfortable and quiet.”
The latest teaser comes roughly one month after Jaguar released a similar video and image gallery of the F-Pace undergoing testing in extreme temperatures, ranging from minus 40 degrees Celsius in Sweden to 50 degrees Celsius in the United Arab Emirates.
The Jaguar F-Pace will go on sale globally in 2016. It will join the just-launched XE, the updated XJ due at the end of this year, and the new XF due around March 2016.
When it lands, the F-Pace will tackle other sports-bred SUVs including the BMW X4 and the Porsche Macan.
