Lexus RC F with heartbeat displaying paint + video
Advertising firm M&C Saatchi and the Japanese luxury marque’s Australian arm have come up with a unique Lexus RC F that displays the driver’s heartbeat on its external body panels.
The one-off V8 RC F coupe features electroluminescent paint work. The special paint from US firm Lumilor glows a brilliant bright blue when an electrical charge is passed through it.
A heart rate monitor, worn by the driver, is connected to the paint’s control unit. Working together, the system displays a live animation of the driver’s heartbeat along the car’s doors and rear flanks.
Sean Hanley, chief executive of Lexus Australia, said that “this latest concept follows other innovative projects we have developed this year including smart outdoor advertising billboards that respond to the car you’re driving and our fantastic new Lexus hoverboard“.
Like regular RC F models, Lexus Australia’s unique heartbeat-displaying coupe features a naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8 under the bonnet with 351kW of power and 530Nm of torque.
Tied to the standard eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive, the 1780 kilogram RC F can race from 0-100km/h in 4.5 seconds and hit an electronically limited top speed of 270km/h.
