Even with the Tesla Model 3 getting launched in late July, its worldwide release remains something of a curiosity.
The first 30 cars have been delivered (many of them going to Tesla staffers), but question marks remain when it comes to when the rest of America — let alone the rest of the world — will get their Model 3 fill. It's a good problem for Tesla to have, of course, having so much hype around a new platform.
But, time and possible delay hasn't stopped a company called Unplugged Performance from knocking together some aftermarket bodykit designs for the high-profile EV.
The company dub their digital creation the 'Tesla Model 3 P', though if you look carefully at the two provided renders you'll notice some small differences. These differences (different side-skirts on both renders, plus the absence of a wing on one render) indicate that there will be multiple options on the table for interested Model 3 owners or owners-to-be.
And, considering the focus on the youth market in the context of the Model 3, options and the potential for unique combinations and customization is going to be an important selling point for Unplugged Performance. The kits themselves look good, helping give the largely sparse and minimalist Model 3 a bit of an edge. Though, what these additions will do to the Model 3's range and aerodynamics are another question entirely.
“While Tesla desires to make the Model 3 as rapidly and inexpensively as possible, the Unplugged Performance variant Model 3 will be made slowly, in an artisan fashion befitting of a Supercar experience,” said Unplugged Performance, in an interview with Tesla enthusiast website teslarati.com.
“The Unplugged Performance Model 3 will be the car Tesla does not want to make themselves: An ultra-low production, artisan made specialty vehicle for a limited audience of motoring enthusiasts.”
An “artisan fashion befitting of a Supercar experience” eh ... It's a bodykit. Let's not get carried away, guys.
