We're already quite familiar with the Jaguar I-Pace concept.
It was welcomed with a wave with critical praise when it was revealed at last year's Los Angeles Motor Show. We also know that this car is coming to wee little New Zealand, with Jaguar New Zealand on the edge of taking orders for the machine.
But, we haven't yet seen imagery of the production version of the I-Pace. Until now ... we think.
Video of an I-Pace driving around Monaco has been published online, with footage appearing to show the EV being filmed (driving quite hard) for upcoming promotional material. It makes sense, with a variety of Jaguar minds having been in Monaco over the weekend attending the latest round of the FIA Formula E Series where they campaign cars for Adam Carroll and Kiwi Mitch Evans.
If you listen in, you can hear the sound of people talking into handsets. And in certain camera angles, you can see camera crew filming various shots.
What do we learn from this? Well, we learn that the I-Pace concept wasn't far at all from being production ready — at least in a visual sense. The car filmed looks almost identical to the car journalists and attendees fawned over in Los Angeles.
What we don't know about is whether the production car retains the impressive stats of its concept cousin; 300kW and more than 650Nm of torque, with a range of 354 kilometres. Not to mention the ability to charge fully in just two hours.
Regardless, the showstopping I-Pace is very likely to change the game. We can't wait for it.
