The Zagato Mostro has been unveiled a day before its public debut at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este, which took place over the weekend on the shores of Lake Como, Italy.
Only five Mostro coupes will be built to celebrate Maserati's centenary. All of the small build run has already been allocated to long-time Zagato owners and all Mostros will be delivered by December 2015.
The Mostro features a carbonfibre body, dubbed MonoCell by the company. Underneath this is a structure of steel tubes that forms the passenger area. Attached to this is a subframe for the petrol tank, exhaust, rear suspension and transmission.
Ahead of the driver and passenger is a 4.2-litre Maserati V8 with dry-sump lubrication. Power is transmitted to the rear-mounted six-speed semi-automatic transmission via a rigid transaxle.
The car rides on 19-inch alloy wheels fitted with 255/40 rubber up front and 295/35 tyres at the rear.
The Mostro has front and rear double wishbone suspension.
Given the bespoke nature of the car, no performance or pricing numbers have been provided.
In a conversation with Autoblog, Zagato says that "none of [its] atelier cars exceed one million", although it's not clear if they're referring to euros or dollars.
