On the back of once again leading its segment in sales for the month and being the year-to-date leading truck in New Zealand, the Ford Ranger has today won yet more trophies for the cabinet, including NZ4WD Magazine’s “4WD Utility of the Year 2014” and “OVERALL 4WD of the Year 2014” as well as the Motoring Writers’ Guild and Automobile Association’s “Best in Class 2014 Utility”.
The Ford Ranger is New Zealand’s most awarded truck, having won numerous trophies including being the first truck to win the prestigious AMI and NZ AutoCar “OVERALL Car of the Year” award. The latest “Best in Class” award from the AA and MWG marks the third year in a row the Ranger has won it!
“Ranger drivers will appreciate these awards as much as we do - it speaks volumes for the engineering, testing and design that went into building their Ranger,” said Corey Holter, Managing Director Ford New Zealand. “The engineers and designers set out with a blank sheet of paper to not only build a better, higher-quality truck than current competitors but to build one that would beat future competitors. Judging from the awards that the Ranger has continued to win, and seeing more and more Kiwis making the switch to the Ford Ranger, I’d say they nailed it!”
Helping propel it to the top in 2014, the Ford Ranger won the NZ4WD Magazine’s big 2014 ute shootout, which compared the Ford Ranger against all major competitors, including those that have even had major recent upgrades.
The Ranger was at the top of its segment in November sales and is currently the leader in year-to date sales for 2014. The Ranger continues to win over customers in both the private and fleet sector with many customers making the switch from key competitors.
“That’s perhaps the most satisfying – seeing so many customers, private and fleet, making the switch to the Ranger,” said Holter. “While a lot of attention has been put on the sales race, we’re confident Ford has built the best truck and for us it’s always been about the customer decision at the end of the day. And looking at the sales performance and numerous awards, the Ranger has already been a huge win for us and, more importantly, for the many Kiwis who have chosen the Ranger.”
While the ute segment is full of “tough” utes, the Ford Ranger is capable of much more than just delivering on the tough stuff. The entire range possesses a level of cutting-edge technology and 5- Star Safety that puts vehicles like the 4-Star Toyota HiLux 4x2 in the shade.
Ford New Zealand Marketing Manager, Chris Masterson, said Ranger had struck a chord with customers in New Zealand.
“The fact that Ranger was designed and engineered just over in Australia means it has proven reliability and capability in even the harshest conditions; something that our customers recognise and appreciate,” he said. “It’s a vehicle that fits perfectly with the diverse requirements of customers across New Zealand.”
“When you look at the Ranger model line-up, with features like Bluetooth connectivity, 5-star ANCAP safety across the range and then add in high levels of refinement and capability, it provides customers with something more than just a work ute,” added Masterson. “It also helps that it’s a great looking truck. There are very few vehicles, trucks or otherwise, that a driver will park and then look back and admire the design with a satisfied smile. The Ranger is one of those vehicles."
