Mitsubishi’s Final Edition Evo “a collector’s piece”

A final run of Mitsubishi’s iconic Lancer Evolution sedan will come to New Zealand before the model is withdrawn from sale after its illustrious 23-year, ten-generation history.
Just 30 examples of the Lancer Evolution Final Edition, built alongside 1,000 units for Mitsubishi’s home market in Japan, will go on sale here in November.
“As the last of its kind this Final Edition car - the ultimate Evo - is likely to be sought after as a collector’s piece” said Mitsubishi’s head of sales and marketing strategy Daniel Cook.
“Unique upgrades make the Final Edition the most exciting Lancer Evo ever, with the 2-litre turbocharged MIVEC engine’s revised mapping lifting power and torque to a massive 230kW and 421Nm”.
Revised suspension, with high-performance Eibach springs and Bilstein shock absorbers, and the latest Brembo braking technology, are all backed up by Evo’s legendary S-AWC advanced all-wheel control.
Front seats are full bucket Recaro, of course, with red accent stitching echoed on the steering wheel and the shift knob for the five-speed manual transmission.
The Final Edition rides on distinctive 18-inch BBS forged alloy wheels and features a stand-out gloss black roof and commemorative badges inside and out. Paint finishes are Tarmac Black, Titanium, New Silky White and Rose Red, and each car comes with a console-mounted serial plate reflecting its edition number.
Daniel Cook says the Final Edition does much more than ring down the curtain on a magical chapter of motoring history. “It embodies the essence of all the driving excitement that the word ‘Evo’ calls to mind, yet with even greater performance and finesse. I’d suggest that with only 30 vehicles available, drivers who want this life-changing experience for themselves need to be on the phone to their Mitsubishi dealer very, very quickly”.
