On the 23rd of May, Peugeot revealed the highly anticipated, all new Peugeot 3008 SUV. In line with Peugeot’s product led reinvention, the new Peugeot 3008 SUV is set to join the 2014 European Car of the Year Peugeot 308, in the stable of highly acclaimed vehicles and brings with it a completely new proposition for the Peugeot SUV range.
Simon Rose, Divisional Manager Peugeot New Zealand says, “The arrival of the New 3008 SUV is the first of multiple SUVs due to launch in 2017 and will mark a significant turning point for Peugeot in New Zealand, allowing us to actively compete in what is now the largest segment of the kiwi market”. He goes on to say “whilst the new 3008 SUV carries the same 3008 model name as its predecessor, it is an entirely different new vehicle from the ground up”.
The all new Peugeot 3008 SUV is the very first SUV to sit on the highly praised EMP2 platform and will be combined with a six-speed automatic transmission. With a range of diesel and petrol engines available, the new Peugeot 3008 SUV will offer powerful performance combined with ultra-low consumption. The vehicle is also larger both on the interior and exterior and features an enormous boot volume of 520 litres. Targeted at lifestylers on the move, each new 3008 SUV comes with its own rechargeable electric scooter that fits uniquely into the boot.
The entirely restyled interior is spectacular with an almost futuristic dashboard, all-new wireless charging dock, 8” touch screen, numerous state-of-the-art driver aids and latest generation i-Cockpit with personalisable head-up instrument unit and driving themes. From the outside, the all new Peugeot 3008 SUV sports a fresh new look and features larger wheels, raised ground clearance, wide protective bands (bumper skirts, wheel arches, bottom of doors), shaped roof bars and a stylish “Black Diamond” roof.
The new Peugeot 3008 SUV is being produced in the Sochaux plant and will be presented to the public internationally for the first time at the 2016 Paris Motorshow. Due to arrive in New Zealand Q1 2017, final specification and pricing will be confirmed closer to launch. Expectations are the New 3008 will become a key selling model line in New Zealand, “Indications are we will have an exceptionally high level of standard driver assistance and active safety functions versus key market competitors, and include both petrol and diesel variants from launch” concludes Rose.
