Nine Warriors took to the track in late January in our stunningly sign written Swift Sport.
With expert tuition from our champion Suzuki dealer principal and professional racecar driver, Emma “Hot Laps” Gilmour, the boys raced to see who could complete the fastest lap of the Pukekohe circuit.
Also racing alongside players Simon Mannering, Manu Vatuvei, Shaun Johnson, Thomas Leuleuai and Nathan Friend were two lucky members of the public. Sid Murfitt (Suzuki competition winner) and Jimmy Heal (Leukemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand fundraising auction) relished the chance to show up the boys.
Rally ace Emma shared a few tips and showed the novices how it was done before sending them out on the track to see if their pre-race banter would match their performance on the curves, and whether their nerves could stand up to the challenge.
Also there to catch the action were Hamish McKay and Michelle Pickles from TV3, so there was no hiding from the (sometimes hilarious) results. Every moment of nail biting action was caught on camera and will be unveiled over a ten week Facebook promotion.
