It’s apt that the Ellerslie Intermarque Concours and Classic Car Show is happening on Valentine’s Day in Auckland, as Kiwis have such a love affair with vehicles of all ages.

The show, now in its 43rd year, will display an estimated 700 classic vehicles at the Ellerslie racecourse tomorrow, with models ranging from early 1900’s horseless carriages to more familiar models of the 1960s and 70s.

As it is Valentine’s Day, 18 car clubs will interpret the “love” theme to compete for the Best Club Display award.

There are also awards for the best teams of restorations — the winners will host next year’s show. This year, hosts the Porsche Car Club, will have two vehicles from the Porsche museum on display — the 1977 935 Group 5 racer and the 1998 LMP1-98 Le Mans racer.

The event runs from 10am-4pm, admission is $15 and more information is available at www.concours.org.nz.
