1953 Bentley R-Type Continental Fastback on sale

James Bond creator Ian Fleming's 1953 Bentley R-Type Continental Fastback is listed for sale on United States car auction website Gullwing Motor Cars.

While the vehicle was never Fleming's personal car, he ordered it for his friend Ivar Bryce, the inspiration for the charcter Felix Leiter in the James Bond series.

The car won its class at the 1971 Concours d'Elegance, and was then put into storage.

Gullwing Motors found the car in a garage in Hollywood, and now has it listed for sale for US$1,495,000, or almost NZ$2.3million.

According to the BarnFinds website this was the fasted production four-seater money could buy at the time it was built, with a top speed of 120 miles an hour.
