Earlier in the week we detailed a 1987 Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth — pristine and with an expected selling price in the UK of NZ$200,000 when it comes up for sale later this month at Silverstone Auctions.

But, that Sierra isn't the only fast Ford being tabled by the UK auction house in July.

A left-hand drive 1994 Ford Escort RS Cosworth Motorsport Edition, number 19 of a handful ever built, will go under the hammer at the same sale.

The Ash Black example was delivered new to the Nespoli Collection in Italy and has changed hands just once in 24 years before being returned to its original home.

Motorsport Edition models were hardened versions of the standard Escort Cossie - that means it has no sunroof and is fitted with OZ racing wheels.

While electric windows and air conditioning wasn't a standard feature on these limited edition cars, this one has both.

What also makes it highly desirable is the low mileage. The odomoter currently reads just over 9,600 kilometres (5,965 miles) and it remains in astoundingly good condition.

The current record for an Escort RS Cosworth is £91,000 set last November.

This one is estimated to achieve between £54,000 and £60,000 (NZ$100,000–$115,000), so we don't expect it to take the mantle as the most expensive of all time.
