Jeremy Cassells is managing director for Hamilton’s Online Electrical Services. He drives a 2020 HSV SportsCat+.

What led you to buy the HSV SportsCat+?

Saw they had made some good power gains with the new Walkinshaw performance kit, so decided to grab one for the weekend to test it out.

Any options or mods?

Just the Walkinshaw kit.

Is it your main work vehicle, and do you use it for leisure?

It is my work ute, but I do find I use it a lot because of its practicality and the type of hobbies myself and my family have.

You traded in an Amarok V6 for the SportsCat, is that a downsizing post Covid-19 or a lateral move?

No, I was all set to buy another Amarok before I drove this; they are a great truck but feeling a bit dated in the interior now. The Sportscat also handles and drives better.

What does Online Electrical Services do, and how was work through the Covid-19 lockdown?

We mainly work in the commercial and industrial sector. Due to the type of work we do and customers we have, we were an essential service weren’t too greatly affected.

Would you change anything about the SportsCat?

Could always have more grunt!

Where did your interest in cars start?

When I was young my father took us to watch all sorts of motorsport events and car shows.

What’s your perfect garage of three cars?

Audi RS6 Avant (love wagons), Series 2 Mazda RX-2 coupe, VW Touareg R Line (tow the boat).

What’s your favourite road and in which car?

Ninety per cent of the roads used in the Taranaki Tarmac Rally, in a Group A WRX I used to own.

What other utes have you owned, and which was/is the best?

Nissan Navara, Holden Colorado, VW Amarok, Dodge RAM 1500, Toyota, HSV Maloo, XR8. The Sportscat is the best one I have had for everything I do with it.

What do you do for fun, and does it include the SportsCat?

We hit the lake during the summer months with the family, wakeboarding. Also mountain biking, motorbikes and RC racing.
