“Don't cry for me, Argentina ... ”
Having once again survived Auckland's fierce traffic to get to work this morning unscathed, this video is something I feel I can connect with.
Argentina's touring-car scene is actually quite an impressive one — it's where factory World Touring Car Championship Citroën star José María López cut his teeth before clinching the international championship last year.
It's also home to the Top Race V6 series, comprised of a series of cars that are all identical, propelled by 3.0-litre V6 engines, on a tubular steel chassis. But each car has its own external silhouette fashioned to look like a relatable road car.
It was also the scene of a pretty hairy crash in the wet last weekend. To say the heavens above the Autódromo Termas de Río Hondo circuit would be something of an understatement — Mother Nature's voluptuous tears gushed over the facility with enough persistence to scare Noah into action.
The track naturally became an ice-skating rink, and soon enough, cars started to slip and slide off the circuit — all of them conveniently doing so at the one single corner.
Thankfully, it was all largely at low speed, with only a few cars taking on big damage. For extra effect, open the Benny Hill tune in a separate window and play the two in unison.
