Epic time-lapse footage released ahead of mammoth D1NZ season opener
In just a handful of days, round one of the Demon Energy National Drifting Championship will be under way.
But not only will we see new cars and drivers tackle the lead series; we'll also see a completely new facility in Dunedin's Forsyth Barr Stadium.
The stadium has undergone incredible changes over just the last few days — transferred almost overnight from being a highly maintained rugby field into a playground for New Zealand's most powerful drift machines.
The journey thus far has been captured in one fascinating time-lapse video — showing off just how many layers it's taken to make this idea become a reality. Though there's still plenty of work to be done before D Day, including installing barriers and other vitals to ensure safety to both fans and the pitch underneath.
The wonton destruction of tyres kicks off this coming Friday (December 2), with the main event taking place on the following day. Stay tuned to Driven.co.nz for more news track side.
