Watch: insane 850hp Ford Focus weapon takes down Kiwi record

To be fair, calling this a 'Ford Focus' is perhaps a slight stretch.
It's a purpose-built hill-climb rocket, named the RTTS Extreme 4WD Ford Focus and created several years ago by the folks at Pace Innovations in Australia (of Supercars and SuperTourers fame — a team that know their stuff when it comes to car building).
And it's about as far away from a Ford Focus as possible; the team of local owners even fitting it with nitrous for this recent hit-out at the Coronet Peak Hill Climb.
Sadly, 'laughing gas' is somewhat frowned upon in Kiwi motorsport for safety reasons, and officials requested that the team take on the hill-climb challenge without the bottle.
Not that it mattered in the end ... the monstrous car and its steerer Andrew Waite carved up the Coronet hillside in a time quick enough to eclipse the current record by seven seconds. An impressive feat that's depicted in the clip above.
It's all part of team preparations for 2018, where the 'Focus' is set to return to the illustrious Pikes Peak International Hill Climb with its owner Tony Quinn (you may have heard of him) at the helm.
If the clip is anything to go by, this little Ford is set to turn plenty of heads.
