The Bruce McLaren Heritage Centre at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park houses some priceless memorabilia, celebrating the life and achievements of a truly great New Zealander.
With so many irreplaceable items (like the Monaco Grand Prix Trophy Bruce won in 1962) in the collection, security and protection is a major concern.
Now, New Zealand company Safe & Lock Services (SLS) have provided the best possible security, installing a Fire Proof Safe into the Bruce McLaren Heritage Museum, this will see some of the irreplaceable items of Bruce’s memorabilia secured and preserved in the event of a fire.
The Chubb RPC safe is large enough to house all the helmets and race overalls that are not on current display, providing security and fire protection at the same time.
A team of their Secure Storage installation experts delivered; installed and commissioned the safe on site, with assistance from Giltrap Group.
The Giltrap Group’s passion for motorsport dates back 50-years, and they were delighted to contribute to the installation of the safe to further preserve Bruce McLarens legacy.
Their passion for motorsport and the preservation of this type of history runs only second to that of Zeta Panton who, in conjunction with David Rhodes, manages the Heritage Centre.
Zeta was delighted to receive the Unit “I’m so excited to have somewhere safe and secure to keep these pieces that are so valuable to us in terms of historic value”.

The Bruce McLaren Heritage Centre also honours other Kiwi Motorsport greats, like Denny Hulme, Chris Amon, Kenny Smith (who incidentally is a nextdoor neighbour) right through to Brendon Hartley and Scott Dixon.
The Heritage Centre is open on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays between 11am and 3pm (10am – 4pm during Summer). They welcome Groups and Car Club Tours plus you can also make a separate appointment and the team will always try to accommodate requests outside of these hours where possible. Entry Fee is $10.00.
