Ford New Zealand is providing ‘wheels for wings’ this Christmas season, donating the use of two Ford Transit vans to the Auckland City Mission’s “Become Someone’s Angel” appeal programme.
Ford New Zealand has provided two much-needed Ford Transit vans – a new Transit Cargo and a new Transit Custom - to help the Mission’s drivers collect donations, deliver parcels and transport supplies from their warehouse to the Auckland City Mission in the city on Hobson Street.
This is the third year Ford has donated the use of the Ford Transits. The Ford Transits working for the Mission will be visiting hundreds of schools, businesses and organisations to collect donations from around the greater Auckland area.
In doing so, they will help the Mission distribute 1,000s of food parcels and presents to families living in desperate need, as well as the 2,000 guests at their Christmas Lunch.
“This time of year is the busiest for the Auckland City Mission,” said Simon Rutherford, Managing Director Ford New Zealand. “We’re glad to be supporting the Mission with the Transits and helping with the seriously impressive level of logistics they undertake during the appeal. It’s an amazing amount of collecting and distribution so having the vans to offer is perfect really. It’s what Transits do best and is a great way for us to support the Mission’s important work.”

The “Become someone’s Angel” is an Auckland City Mission appeal that is running now through to early January. As part of that appeal the Mission asks businesses and schools throughout Auckland to ‘Become Someone’s Angel’ and help with donated food and presents.
The City Mission needs to raise $1.3 million this Christmas to provide Aucklanders in desperate need with food, medical care, advocacy, and support. Visit the link above to see the many ways you can Become Someone’s Angel.
