The new Aston Martin DBS Superleggera has arrived in the Aston Martin Auckland showroom.
The DBS Superleggera replaces the Vanguish S, and is described by the company as the marque's "boldest Super GT."
It comes with a claimed top speed of 340km/h, and will sell in New Zealand for $465,000 plus on road costs.
The heart of DBS Superleggera is Aston Martin’s 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 engine. Set low and and as far back in the chassis as possible to optimise the centre-of-gravity and weight distribution, the engine develops 725PS at 6500rpm and 900Nm from 1800-5000rpm.
The DBS Superleggera accelerates from zero to 100kp/h in 3.4 seconds, and the company says it has class-leading in-gear acceleration, with 50-100mph achieved in fourth gear in 4.2 seconds.
While the Superleggera has already made an appearance in Auckland for its global debut, this new batch of vehicles commences the first examples that will be available to the public.
The regional manager of Aston Martin, Australia and New Zealand, Kevin Wall, said: "We have experienced overwhelming local interest in this model, and expect this will only grow once our clients have the opportunity to drive the vehicle on our local roads."
He said 2018 was a strong year for Aston Martin locally, and the company looked forward to continuing momentum in 2019.
The DBS Superleggera was a true thoroughbred that represented two illustrious names. With DBS, Aston Martin is reviving an iconic nameplate that first appeared in 1967, while Touring’s famous mark – Superleggera – once again adorned the bonnet of an Aston Martin.
