It's a near certainty that the 2018 BMW M5 will be a standout performance sedan.

The next-generation model will be the first BMW M-series sedan to feature the German marque's xDrive all-wheel drive system, set to take the sedan's performance to the next level. Now, BMW has revealed how customers push the performance envelope even further with a range of MY18 M5 M Performance Parts.

Most of these M Performance Parts will be available as retrofit components when the vehicle is launched in the first quarter of 2018, with BMW planing further parts for the third quarter of 2018.

The new performance accessory range has been developed especially for the BMW M5, with most of the components made from lightweight carbon fibre.

In terms of aerodynamic improvements, M5 customers will be able to swap out stock trim for M Performance front splitter, side skirts, rear spoiler and diffuser, promising even sportier handling.

There are a few visual improvements to be had, too, with carbon fibre front air breather trim, side grilles and mirror caps.

BMW's M division has also specially designed a new coilover suspension system, distinguishable with red coils, for the new M5 with adjustable spring plates.

A BMW M Performance sports exhaust system made from titanium with carbon fibre tailpipe will reduced counter-pressure and increase noise from the 441kW twin-turbo V8. Unfortunately at this stage, BMW say the exhaust will only be offered in the USA and Canada.

Behind the wheel, drivers will also have M Performance Drive Analyser at their disposal. Derived from motorsport, Drive Analyser is a new tool from BMW that records and evaluates important vehicle dynamics like engine data, speed, peak values, gear, use of accelerator pedal and brakes, as well as lateral acceleration. The data can then be evaluated and sent straight to the drivers the smartphone.

The M Performance M5 package is finished off with carbon fiber shift paddles, M Performance floor mats and a new key wallet.
