McLaren has made the bold move to bring back the ‘Longtail’, now as a longer, lighter and aerodynamically superior car to the 650S we all know and love.
The 675LT was unveiled in its carbon-fibre glory for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show last week and it packs a few surprises underneath its carbon-fibre bodywork.
While it may look like a slightly stretched version of the 650S, the 675LT shares only 66 percent of its chassis with its older sibling, and just like the 1997 McLaren F1 GTR 'Longtail' that preceded it, is actually lighter than the 650S by over 100 kilograms.
While it also retains the same 3.8-litre displacement as the 650S the engine has had over 50 percent of its parts upgraded to help the LT to develop an impressive power to weight of 403kW per tonne. That means that the McLaren is pushing out a total of nearly 500kW (496kW) from the tweaked M838TL twin turbo V8. That's more than enough to propel the car to 100km/h in just 2.9 seconds.
Finally there's an updated interior to match with race inspired seats which look more than capable of keeping driver and passenger in position while attacking corners.
Arguably the best part about the 675LT however is that this car is fully road legal, so you might see one up close on a road near you soon!
