Aston Martin has announced their latest technological and design venture, a state-of-the-art submarine.
Codenamed Project Neptune, Aston Martin has collaborated with Florida-based company Triton Submarines to bring the luxury creation to life.
Triton is a world leader in the design and manufacture of submersibles for researchers, explorers and superyacht owners. The company has an established track record of producing some of the safest and best performing deep-diving submersibles in the world.
So whilst Triton has worked on Project Neptune's under water performance, Aston Martin selected materials and crafted the submersibles design.
Overseen by Aston Martin Consulting, the partnership has resulted in a unique concept that will lead to a strictly-limited edition production vehicle. Project Neptune is underpinned by Triton’s three-person platform, with Aston Martin responsible for the sub's exterior design.
"Project Neptune is defined by its sleek, elegant exterior," said Marek Reichman, Aston Martin Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer, "we have used forms and proportions that express the same devotion to design, engineering and beauty that shape our cars, such as the Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar project."
Patrick Lahey, President of Triton Submarines LLC said: “We have always admired Aston Martin. The marque represents a deeply held passion for technology, engineering and timeless, elegant design. From our first interaction, it was apparent that Triton and Aston Martin were natural partners and our complimentary values will be realised in this truly exciting project.”
Aston Martin Consulting Managing Director, Bradley Yorke-Biggs said: "Project Neptune is a flagship project for Aston Martin Consulting. It is a clear and engaging demonstration of how Aston Martin’s expertise in sports car design and craftsmanship can be extended into new aspects of the luxury world.”
As yet, there is no word on when the production version of Project Neptune will enter the submarine market, or any indication on how much the limited-edition creation will cost.
