Toyota New Zealand has revamped its Hilux range with the introduction of the new range-topping SR5 Cruiser.

Toyota say the SR5 Cruiser adds more attitude to the 21-strong Hilux range, with the new variant sitting above the SR5 and replacing the outgoing SR5 limited. The Hilux SR5 Cruiser will be available as a double cab in 2WD PreRunner and 4WD configurations, both with a six-speed automatic transmission.

SR5 Cruiser Automatic 2WD models are priced from $54,690, and 4WD start from $67,790.

The new flagship ute also features a new look with black hexagonal upper grille, revised front bumper design and heavily revised LED fog lights. The SR5 Cruiser can also be distinguished with 18-inch gloss metallic black alloy wheels with 265/60 tyres, black door mirrors, door handles, rear bumper and SR5 Cruiser body graphics.

The interior features black perforated, leather accented upholstery with front passangers gaining heated seats. The SR5 Cruiser has a new instrument cluster with a revised tachometer and speedometer off-set with piano black surrounds replacing the silver highlights of the outgoing SR5 Limited model.

A new MID opening screen sequence has been created for the SR5 Cruiser, while the new look is silhouetted on the back of the key.

“The Hilux benchmark has been raised again with a more aggressive style that will appeal to even more customers, and build on the long-standing Hilux attributes of being tough and unbreakable,” said Neeraj Lala, Toyota New Zealand’s General Manager of new vehicle sales and product.

The 2.8 litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine, with 130 kW and 450 Nm of torque from 1600 rpm-2400 rpm, powers the SR5 Cruiser.

The SR5 Cruiser variant is available in all seven Hilux colours. Standard features include cruise control, tilt and telescopic steering column adjustment, seven airbags, satellite navigation, LED headlights, day time running lights and fog lights, climate control air conditioning, rear differential lock, six speaker audio, reversing camera and a 3,500kg maximum braked towing capacity.
