High performance Polestar versions of the Volvo V60 and S60 will reach New Zealand for the first time soon.

Some of the youthful excitement that V8 Supercar ace Scott McLaughlin has injected into the conservative Volvo image is on its way to New Zealand roads.

Volvo New Zealand has confirmed it will have 10 high performance Polestar cars — comprising four S60 and six V60 models — available to New Zealand customers.

The cars will launch here in about six-eight weeks’ time.

Polestar is Volvo’s official performance and racing partner and the Polestar-tuned S60 and V60 models represented the top end of Volvo performance.

The Polestar specification boosts the output of the turbocharged 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder engine to 258kW at 5250rpm with 500Nm of torque produced from 3000-4750rpm.

Other performance features of the Polestar cars are Brembo braking hardware, a Polestar-tuned suspension package that includes adjustable Ohlins dampers and an optimised Haldex all-wheel-drive system.

The Polestar S60 can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 4.9secs with the V60 version clocking 5.0secs.

New Zealand pricing has yet to be confirmed but will start under $100,000.
