Visually evident among significant across-the-board specification improvements to Mitsubishi’s latest ASX range, announced this month, is the adoption of new 18-inch machine-finished alloy wheels, with black wheel arch overfenders completing the SUV ‘look’.
All models now also have LED daytime running lights and emergency stop signal.
Less obvious, until you get behind the new Outlander-style steering wheel, is the improved handling and stability that comes from the 20mm wider track, the auto models’ smoother and more responsive shifting, and the NVH improvements accruing from further sound deadening.
Choose the new VRX and you get the most stunning driving experience of all: a massive panoramic safety glass roof that creates an unparalleled open-air feeling and sense of space.
Mitsubishi plans to steer its increasingly-popular ASX to the top of the hotly-disputed ‘small SUV’ class segment by year’s end.
Sales and marketing strategy head Daniel Cook foresees a sharp boost in demand following the arrival of the latest upgrades to the four-model range.
Leading the charge will be special XLS-model pricing until 31 July: $29,990 for the 2WD 2-litre petrol CVT and $32,990 for the 4WD 2.2-litre diesel 6-speed auto, plus on-road costs: in each case, thousands lopped off the recommended retail price.
“By any account”, says Daniel Cook, “this represents unmatchable value for a high-performing small SUV that’s proved it delivers enjoyable, safe and economical driving”.
