Remaking a cornerstone scene from one of New Zealand's favourite movies is brave - but Mini is repeating the Lake Hawea chase from Goodbye Pork Pie.
The latest Mini will be used in place of the original 1978 machine, and the shoot will have a new director and cast - and best of all, you could be a part of the action.
BMW Group New Zealand, managing director, Nina Englert explains: "What better way to celebrate the launch of the all new Mini Hatch in New Zealand, than to recreate a scene from the original classic Goodbye Pork Pie.
"Mini is excited to revive New Zealand's love affair with Goodbye Pork Pie by recreating the Lake Hawea chase scene with an all-star line-up ... we now need one brave Kiwi to join us on our journey."
Through a series of challenges and via a dedicated website, Mini is recruiting for honorary members of the "Blondini gang" the self-titled misfits from the film.
The Goodbye Pork Pie 2014 Challenges dare Kiwis to be a little adventurous and apply their sense of humour by generating their Blondini Gang Name or getting into some Blondini costume.
As Driven readers know, the new Mini Hatch went on sale in New Zealand this month.
It has a new-generation more powerful and fuel-efficient engine, a stylish new interior cockpit design and new technology, including variable driving modes, a head-up display and LED headlights.

Despite the makeover it still has everything a Mini should - go-kart handling and performance which puts the excitement back into driving.
There will be heaps of movie prize packs, one lucky person will get to star in the scene, winning a spot in the Mini's passenger seat as it burns around Lake Hawea with the "cops" in hot pursuit. As a bonus, they'll get a new Mini to drive for a month - although the car has to be returned in one piece and not sold piece-by-piece as the Blondinis did in the original movie.
