Ford has revealed local New Zealand specs and pricing of the all-new Everest SUV at its international launch in Thailand today.
The Ranger-based Everest will come to New Zealand in two guises, both packing the Ranger’s impressive 130kW/470Nm 3.2-litre five-cylinder diesel turbo engine hooked up to a six-speed automatic transmission.
The Everest marks a return to a tough ladder chassis for a Ford SUV, with a suite of off-road electronics to compliment its impressive 225mm of ground clearance and class-leading 800mm wading depth.
An “intelligent” four-wheel drive system and an active transfer case with “Torque on Demand” are complimented by the Terrain Management System that has four preset modes - Normal, Snow/Mud/Grass, Sand and Rock - that alter the vehicle’s throttle response, transmission, four-wheel drive system and traction control to help drivers confidently tackle any situation. For extreme off-road environments, drivers can manually lock the transfer case in low-range four-wheel drive mode for increased control.
On the inside, the Everest gets Ford’s latest SYNC2 infotainment system, complete with an 8-inch touchscreen and a ten speaker audio system with an integrated subwoofer.
We will bring you more from the Ford Everest launch after we get behind the wheel!
