Ford has revealed local New Zealand specs and pricing of the all-new Everest SUV at its international launch in Thailand today.

The Ranger-based Everest will come to New Zealand in two guises, both packing the Ranger’s impressive 130kW/470Nm 3.2-litre five-cylinder diesel turbo engine hooked up to a six-speed automatic transmission.

The Trend kicks off the range at $75,990, while the top-spec Titanium rounds it out at $87,990.

The Everest marks a return to a tough ladder chassis for a Ford SUV, with a suite of off-road electronics to compliment its impressive 225mm of ground clearance and class-leading 800mm wading depth.

An “intelligent” four-wheel drive system and an active transfer case with “Torque on Demand” are complimented by the Terrain Management System that has four preset modes - Normal, Snow/Mud/Grass, Sand and Rock - that alter the vehicle’s throttle response, transmission, four-wheel drive system and traction control to help drivers confidently tackle any situation. For extreme off-road environments, drivers can manually lock the transfer case in low-range four-wheel drive mode for increased control.

On the on-road side of things, the Everest Titanium packs an impressive array of technology as well, with “Curve Control” that is designed to help drivers maintain control when approaching turns too quickly, Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with Cross Traffic Alert, which informs drivers when there is a vehicle in their blind spot while driving or when preparing to reverse out of parking spots, as well as Roll Stability Control and Active Park Assist.

On the inside, the Everest gets Ford’s latest SYNC2 infotainment system, complete with an 8-inch touchscreen and a ten speaker audio system with an integrated subwoofer.

We will bring you more from the Ford Everest launch after we get behind the wheel!
