The all-new Range Rover Sport has broken cover ... sort of. Land Rover released a very blurry image of the car before its official launch on the eve of the New York Auto Show on March 26.

The third model of the new Range Rover family launched in two years, the firm claims, will be the fastest, most responsive and most agile yet. It follows the award-winning Range Rover Evoque in 2011 and Range Rover last year.

The new Sport is based on the same all-aluminium platform as the new Range Rover and will be built alongside the flagship model at the firm's new "Premium Lightweight Architecture" production line in Solihull, United Kingdom.

John Edwards, Land Rover global brand director, said: "The all-new Range Rover Sport takes the model to another level. It is Land Rover's most dynamic vehicle yet and showcases the best of British design, engineering and technological innovation."

We'll have to take Edwards' word on that for now, but it will at least feel at home in New York.

More Sports are sold to in New York than any other area in the world. And if New Yorkers are involved, expect a glitzy launch when it is driven through Manhattan a day before the opening of the New York Auto Show.
